Q-Tips

Application of shield:
READ ALL STEPS FIRST.
Once the process begins, steps happen quickly. Familiarize yourself with the directions first – trust us, it pays off in the end.
|
 |
Have your device ready on a soft, lint-free
towel. Make sure the device is OFF. We recommend microfiber cloth, but a cotton
cloth will do. Have your squeegee, spray
solution, and Clear-Coats nearby and ready.

|
|
 |
Spray your fingers with the solution before
handling and removing the coat – this
prevents fingerprints.
 |
 |
Starting at a corner, carefully remove 1 of the
Clear-Coat pieces – we recommend starting with
the screen, or back battery cover. Remove any
cut-outs as noted on the Clear-Coat guide by
an “X”.
 |
|
 |
Spray the Clear-Coat – make sure it is
thoroughly wet – this is key to easy
application. Carefully lay the Clear-Coat
on your device, going edge-to-edge when
laying it down, and slide it into place. We
recommend using any cut-outs and edges
as a guide for correct placement
.
|
 |
Keeping the coat steady with 1 hand, LIGHTLY
squeegee from the center outwards, to remove
excess solution and air. Do not squeegee
towards openings such as the microphone or
speaker. If fluid does get into these areas, blot
the fluid out with a Q-tip or towel. The goal is
not to completely bond the Clear-Coat to the
device, you are simply removing excess fluid.
Using your towel, lightly pat around the edges
to remove any solution that was squeegeed out.

|
|
 |
If the coat was moved away from perfect
placement when squeegeed, gently slide
it back into place. Leave piece alone for
at least 5 minutes! Do not squeegee,
towel, or touch it.
 |
 |
Afterwards, wet the tip of your squeegee using the
solution, and then squeegee the coat 1 more time,
applying slightly more pressure this time. Dry off
that piece thoroughly, and move onto the next
piece to be applied. Repeat these steps for
every piece.
 |
|
 |
Once all pieces are applied, let your
device sit for 24 hours – until that time, the
adhesive is still curing, and it is possible
to have a piece come off. After 24 hours,
you can treat the phone however you
wish – it will be difficult to accidentally
remove any shield pieces.
 |
|
 |
Finish:
Once all pieces are applied, you can lightly dry the unit and lightly polish it with your towel. Do not exert too much pressure on the shield for 3 hours – until that time, the adhesive is still curing, and it is possible to have a piece come off. After 3 hours, you can treat the phone however you wish – it will be nearly impossible to accidentally remove any shield pieces. |
 |
PRO TIPS:
Try not to get any moisture near openings on the device, such as speaker holes and microphones. If solution does get into these areas, simply blot it off with the towel.
Sometimes, there are edges and curves on the device that the shield will not stick to when wet. If this happens, apply the shield to the flat areas, squeegee, and then wait for the edges to dry (5-10 minutes). Then push down the edges – they will stick better.
In Step #7, to speed up the process, apply heat to the shield using a hair dryer. Only 1 minute should be needed with a hair dryer, but be careful! Hair dryers can make your device very hot, and risk damage. |

Troubleshooting: Problem: There is still some moisture under the shield after I’ve applied it.
Solution: Moisture should dissipate after 2-3 days. If it does not, you can also use a hairdryer to help remove it.
Problem: My edges aren’t staying down – the adhesive isn’t sticking to the phone in curvy areas.
Solution: Set the ph
one aside for 5-10 minutes, letting the shield dry a bit, and then try pushing the edges down again, or use a hair dryer to dry and soften the material.
Problem: I ran out of solution in the spray bottle!
Solution: Don’t worry about it – you can make your own solution.
In an 8-12 ounce cup, mix 6-8 ounces of water with 10 drops of baby shampoo, or ¼ teaspoon. Stir until soap is dissolved, trying not to create too many bubbles on the surface. Once mixed, add 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and stir. This solution can be changed once application begins – if you find the shield doesn’t slide on the phone during application and sticks immediately to the surface, add a few drops of soap (a little goes a long way!). |
